Envisioning
the Future

We are embarking on an exciting journey to transform the Armidale Bicentennial Arboretum into a world-class Botanical Garden. Our vision is to unify the existing thousands of native and exotic trees, sensory garden, and aquatic features into a cohesive, low-maintenance, and drought-tolerant landscape. This landmark project capitalizes on Armidale’s unique climate, positioning it as the ideal location to create a signature attraction for the region and a lasting legacy for future generations.

How we see the Garden

The proposed garden will offer diverse and immersive experiences for visitors and locals alike. Building upon the established plantings—including the grotto and lookout—we plan to introduce expansive extended native gardens showcasing distinctive New England flora. These will be complemented by vibrant, exotic themed gardens featuring spring bulbs, cherry trees, wisteria, roses, and lavender. Look forward to dynamic seasonal gardens (from summer perennials to stunning autumn foliage and winter grasses), along with specialized succulent and cacti gardens utilizing sloping terrain. The site will also feature recreational lawns for community events and public art installations by local New England artists.

Let's make this happen

You can donate to us in a number of ways, either making a financial contribution, becoming a member, or donate a tree/plant or something else to the Garden.
